FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What is physiotherapy?

Physiotherapy is a healthcare profession focused on improving and maximizing movement, function, and performance throughout a person's lifespan. Physiotherapists work closely with members of your healthcare team (Family Doctors, Surgeons, Nurse Practitioners, and other healthcare professionals) to ensure everyone is working together to achieve your goals.

What can I expect for my first appointment?

Your first appointment is an opportunity for your physiotherapist to listen to your needs and develop a customized treatment plan to help you achieve your goals.

Please arrive at your appointment with your paperwork completed (We'll email it to you once you've booked your appointment.) Also, bring any relevant imaging or notes from your doctor.

Please wear comfortable clothes and shoes!

Do I need a Doctor's referral to see you?

No, Physiotherapists are primary health care practitioners therefore you don't need a referral. Please note that some insurance companies may require a Doctor's referral for reimbursement of physiotherapy services.

Is my visit covered by OHIP?

Physiotherapy is NOT covered by OHIP at Strive Physiotherapy & Performance. Please visit the College of Physiotherapists to download a list of OHIP funded physiotherapy clinics in Ontario or visit the Waterloo Wellington LHIN's website to find out about local physiotherapy clinics covered by OHIP.

What if my injury is due to a workplace incident (WSIB) or motor vehicle collision (MVC)?

Strive Physiotherapy & Performance does NOT bill WSIB or motor vehicle insurance directly. If your injury is due to a workplace incident or motor vehicle collision, it's recommended you contact WSIB or your insurer to determine if they will allow you to pay Strive Physiotherapy & Performance directly and submit your invoice to them for reimbursement.

How do I pay for your services?

We accept cheque, cash, debit, Visa, or MasterCard. At the end of each visit, Strive will accept payment and you'll be provided with an invoice. This invoice can be submitted directly to your insurance company for reimbursement. Your invoices will be saved to your customer profile so they're always available just in case they get misplaced.
